The Right Tool For The Job

The submitter wrote: “Took this photo at a health clinic in Edmonton, Alberta demonstrating the berth of redneck ingenuity. It’s a cut-off screwdriver jammed through a couple holes this bubba drilled into the door handle receiver in order to hold the handle down and avoid the tedium of unlocking the door every day. Really makes a statement about the state of Canadian healthcare when shortcuts like this and the handyman’s toolbox start appearing in the health care facilities (Vice-grips in lieu of forceps in the ER…No kidding! Yikes!) What really screams redneck about this is the obvious care and attention that went into the start of the job by cutting the screwdriver down to appropriate length, drilling the holes the right size, and even attaching a blingin’ chain to avoid tragic loss this sweet piece of work… then complete failure to finish the job by trimming off the excess zap strap!”

  5. The “zap strap” as this guy calls it, doesn’t need to be cut off. It holds the end of the screwdriver up so that it doesn’t come out of the hole…Genius!
