  5. I think this is an old 4Runner. 87-92 or something. They had removable tops and as I recall, were pretty fun to drive. I may be wrong.

  7. The submitter should do their homework. Early model Toyota 4Runners, like early model Ford Broncos, had removable tops. So we’re simply looking at a very nice STOCK 4Runner.

  9. hey jerk, that’s a 4 runner, not a cut top, the old ones could remove the top for that look. broncos, blazers did it too… so tell me another one geek hillbilly…

  13. Looks like an ’86-’89 1st generation 4runner. ’84-’89 4runners had removable rear roofs.

  17. This is a 4Runner, up to 1989 the roof was removable, so you weren’t screwed you just had to put the roof on. It was the same for the Ford bronco at the time or the Jeep Wrangler up to today. Wish you could do this with the current 4Runner I would buy one.

  25. Unlike other commenting on the truck, I want to comment on your “if it rains you’re screwed” line. Have you ever been in the rain in the back of a pickup? It’s a LOT of fun! Or at least was when I was a kid. I’m not sure it’s legal these days.

  27. Whilst everyone is pointing out the make/model, the thing that got my attention were those tires… Where I live, they would NOT be legal, since tires have to come within a certain distance from the outer edge of the wheel wells. As for the person who was asking about the legality of riding in the back of a pick up, it’s legal if a) the vehicle was actually designed with it in mind (aka, the Subaru Brat), or b) you go to the trouble of installing seats with proper restraint systems that have to be given the OK by the DMV.

An interesting point though… if your vehicle rolled off the assembly line *without* a safety feature, like seatbelts, where I am, you are NOT required by law to install aftermarket restraints, which was great news for me when I bought a 1956 Pontiac that didn’t have seatbelts.
