I Want one!
I wish I’d thought of that!
Bet some enterprising person in Rio Linda or Elverta, CA invented this.
@ Candace, that’s funny you mention Rio Linda because I have friends that live out there and that’s exactly the type of things they come up with! Glad I stayed in Rocklin……
As Bubba as my witness I will save up and buy a lawn mower with is own drive gear.
That’s some engineering… the circumference of the spool is probably the width of the moving deck
My dad mowed our lawn like this in the 1950′s and ’60′s. Two pipes set about 16″ apart in permanent sites at 4 places in our big yard. A big Cunningham walk behind tractor pushed one reel mower and pulled 2 reel mowers. Mowed about a 4 1/2′ swath. Rope was about 65′ long. If grass was extra heavy, when the mower got up close to the pipes, turn it around, re-hook the rope and let it mow a second time from inside out (going the oposite way). Cunningham finally died and they invented Gravely tractors with front rotary mowing deck. Thus Gravely used. Operator sits under a tree and reads while the lawn is being mowed.
