Duct Tape Engine

The submitter wrote: “This a fuel injected engine with a carburetor I mounted on top  ( instead of using electronic fuel injection, and ignition) ( it also has a distributor jigged into it). Anyways I mounted the carb on top of the air plenum and wanted to try it before I made a plate to cover a hole in the plenum, so i wrapped the  air plenum in duct tape and started it up. Here it is…. without the duct tape it wouldn’t run”

  7. Fuel Injection with a Carburettor? Is that like supercharged with a turbo? Here’s a hint: Go to the wrecker’s and buy another injection system!

  9. He’s basically taking an injection system and converting it to a carburetor system. I’m guessing that the computer is bad. I wouldn’t think that would be and ideal solution, but playing around like this sometimes yields great benefits. I once rebuilt a carburetor from two carburetors of different designs and got about 10 mpg better fuel efficiency with a slight increase in power over the factory engine. I had to advance the timing slightly and adjust the idle a little high to keep the engine from throttling off, but overall it worked better than many of today’s fuel injection systems.

  11. There’s no way in Hell that this will pass emissions… You’re an idiot.

  13. since the computer is disconnected, or broken, there is no way that the emissions station can check for an error code or “check engine” light..
therefore it will pass emissions LOL
