Chevy Mess“One lamp mounted one way and another at 90 degrees. Strange things on the top of the bumper?”  Wonder what is up with the plug on the bumper?

  1. THe plug is the block heater.That is a diesel.Standard on diesel pickup trucks.

  3. LOL Definitely would be something I would do – The plug, by the way, is for an engine block warmer (typically on Diesels or most vehicles in cold climates [think Alaska])

  5. The “strange things” on the bumper look like what’s left of the mounts for some auxilary lights.
    The plug would be for a block heater. So you can plug your vehicle in when it’s -30. If you don’t plug in when it’s cold like that your car may still start but the oil will be thicker than mollases and does absolutly nothing to protect your engine.

  7. The photograph was taken in Wyoming were it has been known to get to 30 degrees below zero on a sunny day. Yes the plug is for a block heater just so the damn thing will start at 30 Degrees blow zero. That is if you remembered to plug it in before bed. Of course the photograph was made in front of a Wal-Mart.
