Why dirty a bowl?

The mini-cereal boxes actually say to do this.
I remember back when they had cuts in the small boxes for opening them so you could do something similar. (is my age showing again?) Lay it flat, cut along the short edges, then down the middle, edge to edge, open and you have an instant bowl.
