Spare tire holder
The submitter wrote: “We live in Michigan, snow and salt caused the spare tire under the van to rust and weld itself to the holder. The van was recalled and when they replaced the axle we asked them to bust loose the spare and we started keeping it inside the van. But a recent trip to Florida with our sons and lots of luggage necessitated finding someplace to put the spare – hence the redneck repair shown in the photo, we used tie down straps to hold the spare to the roof rack, then my mechanic son came up with the brilliant idea to use the plastic zip ties to tighten up and keep the excess length of the straps from flapping. An added bonus, it was really easy to find in parking lots.”
