Bottle Tree….

Guess the local alcoholics got jealous of the vegetarians and started planting bottle trees.  Who knew that Boone’s Farm came in so many pretty bottles!  What happens when Bubba discovers wine in a box?

  5. I like these. Something about colored glass and the light reflecting through them. I collect telegraph insulators for this reason. They look so cool sitting on a window sill. There are some things like this and silverware windchimes that are so a part of Americana that they are in style instead of trashy.

  9. Anyone ever see the bottle tree farm in the high desert on old Route 66 between Barstow and Victorville? THIS picture is nuffin’, compared to that.

  11. Why are you guys saying this is art and it looks good? It looks trashy, like a white trash redneck who spends on his welfare money on booze. Our tax dollars at work…

  13. @Kendall I agree with you, its more trashy then art. Maybe its art after you have had a few bottle or if you’re gay. LOL at wine in the box.

  15. They sell metal trees in catalogs for bottle farms.Whether it’s trash or art doesn’t keep BUBBA from being smarter than a YUPPIE and not paying for something so easy to make.

  17. Bottle trees are a tradition in the South. They were originally a form of African American hoodoo and people have been doing them for many, many decades.

  19. Hank is right, bottle trees are from Gullah tradition. It’s not art for them. I believe it’s some kind of spirit deterrent but I’m not positive.

  21. They are placed by the front entrance to a home. The bad spirits would fly into them and get trapped, not ever making it inside to the family.

  23. One of those bottles on the right looks like a bong to me (PROTIP: it’s the clear one with the bumps).
